Navratra Day 3 - Tritiya Tithi - Devi Chandraghanta

Maa Chandraghanta is the third manifestation of Devi Durga and is worshipped on the 3rd day of Navratri.
She is the married avatar of Maa Parvati and after marrying Lord Shiva, she started adorning Chandra, or half moon, in the shape of a Ghanta (bell) on her forehead, hence the name Chandraghanta.
A symbol of peace, serenity, and prosperity, Maa Chandraghanta has ten hands holding a trident (Trishul), a mace (gada), a sword (talwar), a pitcher (kamandal) on the left and a lotus, a bow, an arrow, and Japa mala on her right. Her fifth right hand is raised in Abhaya Mudra (the sign of reassurance), while her fifth left hand is posed in the Varada Mudra. In addition, Maa Chandraghanta has a third eye that opens only during times of war.
She establishes justice and gives Her devotees the courage and strength to overcome challenges.
