Dil Mein Roshan Rahe Diwali

So the festival has gone as suddenly as it had arrived. The extinguished diyas have woken up to a crisp nip in the morning air, signaling that winter is here.

In the distance, you can still hear the occasional crackle of a stray bomb. Your earthy diyas now protectively hold tiny pools of leftover oil. Your rangolis are still radiant, albeit slightly dishevelled.
As you walk on the streets this morning, you catch glimpse of last night’s celebrations all around, and you probably see or hear yourself laughing in that very spot where someone cracked a joke yesterday.
Friends and extended family who had been eagerly looking forward to this year’s festivities have now gone back home, making promises to meet regularly.
The sweets and savouries have been stored away and will be served at tea-time, as momentoes of Diwali. The clothes and jewellery chosen with great care, which made their grand appearance yesterday, have been put away for the next big occasion.
Only your arty marigold strings and the twinkling fairy lights stay hanging, livening your homes for a little longer.
As all the festivities slowly recede into the distance, I ask you for a promise-
That, in your heart, you will let the light remain.
That in spirit, and in being, your celebrations will continue.
That you will attempt to meet your loved ones a little more often.
That the laughter that came in abundance yesterday, will make an appearance every day.

Here’s wishing you all a happy morning and a joyous festive spirit, all year round!
Lots of love and laughter always.
