KASHI | BENARES | VARANASI

22nd Jan 2024 - a poignant moment in the history of ‘Bharat Varsha’.

Ram Lalla has returned home after an exile of 500 years.

The temple’s consecration transcends religious boundaries and is a testimony to recognizing our ancient heritage and cultural potential.

Meanwhile, a stoic Nandi waits, facing away from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, staring wistfully towards the adjacent ‘Gyan Vapi’ mosque, longing for a glimpse of his Vishwanath!

Nandi’s eternal wait at Gyanvapi is symbolic of perseverance and hope - hope for the restoration of deities to their rightful places. For isn’t that what Kashi, originally stands for?

Kashi, derived from the Sanskrit word ‘kash’, meaning - to shine.

Kashi - a city that illuminates your truth and reveals the reality.

Legend has it that this was the original ground upon which Shiva and Parvati stood at the beginning of the time. Strange, how Gods became human when they came to this city - as if the city itself was an extension of their holiness. A place where Gods & Goddesses took mortal forms. A place that has stories older than fiction. I feel if the stones of this city could talk, they would explain the mysteries of the universe like none other.

Kashi, a city that just can't be described in words...
