Are you getting hooked to the clean-tox-detox? Today, I bring you a very unusual combination! But before that, do let me know if you are enjoying all the interesting infusions and more importantly if it's helped you increase your daily water consumption. Why do I keep stressing on your water intake? Well, it's because WATER is the 'key ingredient' that holds the secret to your weight loss. If you don't drink enough water to balance the salt in your diet, you feel all puffed-up! Your body likes salt to be at a certain level. But when you eat salty snacks, heavy meals or aren’t eating as well as you’d like to, your body tends to hold on to the water to dilute the salt. And when it holds on to excess water, that’s when all hell break loose! You feel bloated & puffy! Drinking adequate water helps you stay hydrated so that your body can flush out excess sodium and waste, and keep you feeling light and energized.

Pictures are a big give away.😊
Is today's combination seeming a bit unusual one? Well, it is! And the reason to bring this unique mix is to give you a feel of spa. (you surely must be missing all the pampering or just that 'feel good' feeling, having been under lockdown for more than two months now)

This Kiwi, Lemongrass and Mint weight loss water recipe is not only a great fat cutter and belly burner, but work wonders to restore your skin's inner glow. Kiwi is high in vitamin C and is a great sleep inducer, silently repairing your Sun damaged skin and bringing back its former glow. Lemon grass is naturally great for both skin and hair health as it contains a high percentage of antioxidants, it also helps in easy digestion. Mint leaves are nature's own little stimulants and the smell of mint alone can reduce both fatigue and depression.

I want to share my experience with regard to the preparation of today's detox drink. When I made it for the very first time, following my usual detox water recipes, I sliced a kiwi and with some fresh mint sprigs and lemongrass stalk, I kept it in a bottle filled with water to refrigerate for two hours. I was pretty disappointed to find that after two hours it tasted like…. plain H2O…nothing less nothing more. I let it be in the fridge for next 5 hours (tasting every hour) with no significant change in the taste. So I decided to leave it overnight to refrigerate. The following morning I noticed very mild, mingled flavor of mint and lemongrass but I could not taste the kiwi at all. Honestly, I was disappointed but not the one to give up easily, I decided to give this infused water another try, using the same ingredients.

For my second attempt, I used a fully ripened (soft) kiwi that I sliced and threw into a jar. I added about 3 sprigs of aromatic mint and a stalk of lemongrass that I had bruised in advance. Water, lid, fridge…checked after 1 hour and found a huge difference in the taste. Third time, I left the infusion to refrigerate overnight and enjoyed a perfect glass of achievement, the next morning! Lesson well learnt and shared so you don't repeat the same mistake.

Ingredients are simple:

1 kiwi, peeled and sliced

4-5 sprigs of fresh aromatic mint

4-5 sticks, each about 3 inches long of lemongrass stalk

3 litres of water

You now know the secret formula to prepare your Kiwi, Lemongrass and Mint Detox Water. Just remember, the longer you chill, more intense the flavour will be! (I prefer to refrigerate it overnight). Also a fully ripened kiwi will infuse faster and give the water a stronger flavour, than a hard one (not completely ripened).

The sweet, yet slightly tart flavor of the kiwi will help you curb your craving for fizzy drinks. Keep sipping this refreshing infusion throughout the day, to help you keep your munchy-pangs at bay, while it makes you look and feel great! Can’t wait to hear what you think of this drink! Please do drop a comment and let know. 🙂
